Amazon [amazon.com] has this convertible
black Pro-Lift creeper in black for $36.47. Seems to retail for $60. Shipping is free.
Can't seem to find a padded creeper for cheaper anywhere I can find, much less a convertible one except at Pepboys, but I'm unable to add that to cart no matter what location and I don't live near one.

We bought two of the HF 'low profile' [harborfreight.com] on sale for $20 each and about the best creeper I have used ---Wide with tool storage on sides, roll super easy and can sit on end without flipping up like the prior models we had. The low profile sits you closer to the ground in the comfortable, contoured bottom that is an inch or two lower than normal, such as the OP. No great deals today, the shipping for certain colors has been $7.
I agree on all your points. It gets very cold where I live so laying on the creeper is nicer. I also do a lot of body work on cars (front bumper, rear bumper, vinyl wrapping) and that's when the creeper is nicer. If you're working on the engine, I'd go with a cardboard as well to catch any leaks or stains.
I used mine on the street on a sandy rocky surface, worked perfectly and I preferred that over getting dirty. Unfortunately didn't buy it during this deal though!

Though I do have an old craftsman low profile creeper that I use on my driveway all the time. Beats shimmying in and out every time I realize I grabbed the wrong socket.
