The quality of the video isn't 4k but it's better than most store security cameras you see on the news. It was very easy to identify the guy since he came originally during the day, then came back in the middle of the night with only half of his face obscured. Didn't help him that he wore the same shoes and his car had a unique pattern for locking / unlocking that was apparent in both videos. If the recording had been only by motion detection (like Ring doorbells do), we'd of missed a lot of key evidence that made it really hard for him to dispute it was him.
As an added benefit, if you use Google Home hubs or the Lenovo smart clocks you can pull the live feed on them. Really useful when you don't want to get up but want to see why the dogs are barking or what's going on outside.
Only caveat I will give is that it does require the proper voltage to run, and must be wired. In our house we couldn't find the voltage thing and neither could an electrician that I had hired. My guess is it's in the attic instead of being in the basement, but the end result is we just don't have a tone with our doorbell through the old doorbell ringer - not a big deal though as it does play it over our Google hubs, but it could've ended up not working at all. Eventually I'll have to go into the attic and find the transformer (hoping it's actually there.... otherwise it means ripping out most of the drop ceiling in the basement trying to find this damn thing!).
